Other 3GPP Accesses Integration
EPC is able to interconnect also legacy 3GPP access network. This includes the development of a modified SGSN which is able to communicate on one side with the specific RAN as previously standardized by 3GPP and on the other to communicate with the Serving GW.
OpenEPC Rel. 3 includes an SGSN implementation and a 3GPP RAN emulation. Through the current implementation the SGSN is able to interface with the Serving GW and with the HSS enabling various scenarios including the attachment and the detachment from the 3GPP access network, the reservation of default and dedicated bearers as well as handovers to and from the 3GPP access.
