Offline Charging System

With the development of a diverse set of applications, the charging mechanisms require a higher degree of differentiation and correlation. Volume and event based charging information from core and service levels in the operator core network have to be introduced into single bill entries for each of the subscribers. The Offline Charging System enables the accounting, aggregation and correlation of the charging information from multiple sources and the delivery of such information to a Billing System.

In this scenario, the mobile device is communicating using one or multiple data flows over the core network as part of sessions which are established through the service platforms with the various applications. OpenEPC enables volume and event based accounting and aggregation into Call Data Records(CDRs). The information is correlated from the PDN GW, IMS P-CSCF and S-CSCF as well as from the applications and then transmitted to a fully configurable billing system enabling the showcasing of differentiated billing information generation.
